Common Agrimony (Agrimonia eupatoria) |

The colour is deeper if
harvested later in autumn, and paler if harvested earlier. in France these are combined with
ordinary tea to make an aromatic brew
it is a
perennial plant and can grow to around 80cm tall, it has narrow, pointed, deeply
serrated leaves. Slender spikes of yellow flowers are borne in summer then followed by burr-like seed capsules. The flowers and foliage
have a slightly apricot smell, but other species such as A. procera
are more fragrant.
Cultivation
Agrimony grows in sun
or semi-shade and is very tolerant of dryish, alkaline soil. The seeds
need cold weather or stratification to germinate but will grow in a
range of soil types.
