Bay Tree (Laurus nobilis)

The Bay Tree is from the Mediterranean regions, it can grow  to 15m and is a evergreen tree also known as Sweet Bay or Baybaytree.jpg Laurel. The leaves are dark green and  aromatic it has small light yellow flowers in early summer followed by black berries

 

CULTIVATION

known for its hardiness and adaptability. Prefers a well-drained position with full sun but can also grow in semi-shade, tolerant of drought, wind and salt-spray. They self-sow very readily and respond well to pot culture, often used as topiary specimens and cuttings should be taken in spring. Be certain you have the correct species it can be confused  with the Cherry Laurel which is toxic.
